HISTORY OF THE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

MISSION OF THE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

The Mission of the Lima Central Catholic Educational Foundation is to provide funds to help keep tuition costs down and provide tuition assistance for students who might otherwise be unable to attend LCC. The School Administration and the LCC Foundation Trustees are committed to making an LCC education affordable to as many families as possible.

The video on this page features several testimonials from LCC alumni, students, and staff.

The Lima Central Catholic Educational Foundation (LCCEF) was established in 1981 and initially funded by bequests and solicitations through the Annual Fund campaign. Today it is funded through donations and memorial gifts or bequests and consists of three separate funds.

Since 1981 and through 2018, the Foundation’s general asset fund has provided $5,200,000 to LCC to assist with operating expenses and special projects. According to the fund by-laws only 5% of the proceeds from the fund’s investment can be granted to the school. However, without the support of the LCC Educational Foundation, tuition would be much higher.

In 2002, a restricted tuition assistance scholarship fund was created via a bequest by Julia and Nellie Miller and since then scholarships to individual students have amounted to $581,449.61. Records indicate over 600 students were provided some financial assistance from this fund. The Miller Last Will and Testament provides that only the income and proceeds from this bequest may be used for financial assistance and the corpus investment may not be touched in order to provide a continual source for tuition assistance.

In 2010, a third unrestricted scholarship assistance fund was created by the Board of Trustees of the Educational Foundation since tuition needs have greatly increased over the years. Now any individual can contribute to this fund to help provide scholarships for students interested in attending LCC. In fact, an individual can donate to SPONSOR A STUDENT. In addition to financial need scholarships, there are now merit based scholarships for students exhibiting academic excellence. For the first time in 2012-13, LCC was able to award academic scholarships and continues to do so.

A gift made today to the LCC Educational Foundation ensures that a faith based, quality education through Lima Central Catholic High School will be available long into the future.

LCCEF Teacher Endowment

Student achievement is linked to the quality of the teachers in the classroom. Market trends indicate a growing shortage of individuals pursuing the field of education nationwide. The LCCEF's Teacher Endowment Fund serves to provide ongoing resources to properly compensate and retain the dedicated faculty at LCC, and attract the best talent when we have openings. It serves to close the salary and benefit gap that currently exists between our faculty and their public school counterparts.
